Composition:
The active substance is cytisine (Cytisinum).
One tablet contains 1.5 mg of cytisine.
Dosage:

Recommended dosage:
Desmoxan should be taken orally, washed down with a sufficient amount of water, according to the schedule below.
from day 1 to day 3: 1 tablet every 2 hours (maximum 6 tablets a day)
from day 4 to 12 1 tablet every 2.5 hours (maximum 5 tablets a day)
from day 13 to 16 1 tablet every 3 hours (maximum 4 tablets a day)
from day 17 to day 20 1 tablet every 5 hours (maximum 3 tablets a day)
from day 21 to day 25 1 to 2 tablets a day
From the first day of treatment, gradually reduce the number of cigarettes smoked.
A smoker should stop smoking completely at the latest 5 days after starting treatment.
A person who quit smoking can never afford to smoke even one cigarette.
The durability of the obtained treatment result depends on it.
If the treatment effect is unsatisfactory, treatment should be discontinued.
Treatment can be restarted after 2 to 3 months.
Action:
The cytisine in Desmoxan is similar to nicotine. Due to this similarity, when absorbed into the body, it acts as a “substitute” for nicotine. It binds to the same receptors, blocking nicotine access. Thanks to this, it reduces the symptoms of nicotine craving and the dependence on nicotine.

Contraindications:
When not to use Desmoxan?
if you are allergic to the active ingredient (cytisine) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
if you have unstable angina,

Side effects:
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Side effects most often occur at the beginning of treatment. Most of the side effects disappear with treatment. These are:
fatigue, malaise, fatigue, tearing, irritability,
change in appetite (mainly increase), weight gain,
pain, dizziness, a feeling of heaviness in the head,
sleep disturbances (insomnia, sleepiness, strange dreams, nightmares, drowsiness), anxiety,
difficulty concentrating,
decreased libido,
fast or slow heart rate, increase in blood pressure,
shortness of breath,
increased expectoration, dry mouth, excessive salivation,
gastrointestinal disturbance – gastrointestinal (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, heartburn),
burning tongue, changes in taste,
muscle pain,
rash, increased sweating,
decreased skin elasticity.
Warnings and Precautions:
Desmoxan should only be used by patients who have a serious intention to quit smoking. The use of Desmoxan and smoking can increase the undesirable effects of nicotine.
In the presence of the following diseases:
ischemic heart disease, heart failure, cerebrovascular diseases, arterial obstruction, arterial hypertension,
pheochromocytoma,
gastric and duodenal ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease,
hyperthyroidism,
diabetes,
some forms of schizophrenia,
kidney failure and liver; – if you are elderly (over 65 years old).
