Important note:
The Nicotinell 24-hour patch is only suitable for immediate smoking cessation. Smoking should be completely stopped during therapy.
Patch therapy for individual needs.
The average duration of the Nicotinell 24-hour patch is 9-12 weeks. The effectiveness of the patch and therefore the nicotine level in the blood gradually decreases until complete abstinence is achieved.
This leads to different treatment regimens for heavy smokers or moderate/light smokers.
Treatment regimen for moderate/light smokers – if previous daily cigarette consumption was less than 20 cigarettes:
Start with patch strength 2 (medium) for 3-4 weeks.
Continue with patch strength 2 (medium) for 3-4 weeks.
Complete with plaster strength 3 (light) for 3-4 weeks.
Treatment regimen for heavy smokers – if previous daily cigarette consumption was more than 20 cigarettes
Start with the current patch strength 1 (strong) for 3-4 weeks
Continue with patch strength 2 (medium) for 3-4 weeks.
Finish with a cast of strength 3 (light) for 3-4 weeks.
Tips for using 24-hour Nicotinell patches
Apply 1 patch daily for 24 hours (if possible in the morning after waking up and showering).
After removing the protective film, apply the patch to a healthy, hairless, dry and clean (no lotion, alcohol, ointment, etc.) area of skin, preferably on the inner or outer surface of the upper arm.
Press the patch for about 10-20 seconds and smooth the edges of the nicotine patch outward to ensure good adhesion.
Vary the place where you apply it every day – for example, near the shoulder is suitable. B. also the shoulder area or upper thigh
Never wear two patches at the same time”
