Apaisyl gel is a medicine containing an antihistamine for local use. It is indicated to relieve itching, especially in the case of insect bites. It comes in a 30 g tube. Isothipendyl hydrochloride
( 0.750 g per 100 g of gel) is the active substance in Apaisyl gel. The other ingredients are: edetic acid, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sorbic acid, 70% non-crystallizable sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
Conditions of use of Apaisyl gel
Due to the risk of the active ingredient passing into the blood, Apaisyl gel should not be applied to mucous membranes, over a large area, under an occlusive dressing, on damaged skin or in premature babies or infants. It contains sorbic acid, which can cause local skin reactions such as eczema.
If the disorders persist or worsen, medical advice may be necessary because the itching may have other causes.
Do not use Apaisyl gel during pregnancy and breastfeeding without seeking advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
If you are allergic to an antihistamine medication, you should not use Apaisyl gel.
Apaisyl gel should not be used on an infected, irritated or oozing lesion.
