Euphon lozenges with sugar are a herbal medicine traditionally used in case of throat irritation, to relieve sore throats and/or temporary hoarseness . This throat medicine is available without a prescription, it is reserved for adults and children from 6 years old.
Composition of Euphon lozenges
Each Euphon lozenge contains 10 mg of aqueous extract of Erysimum ( Sisymbrium officinale) : this is the active substance. The extraction solvent is water and the drug/extract ratio is 3.5/5.5:1.
The excipients are sucrose, a gum arabic nebulisate, liquid glucose, invert sugar, orange flavouring, mandarin flavouring and cochineal red (E124).
The orange flavouring consists of orange essential oil reinforced with linalool, linalyl acetate, alphaterpineol, geraniol and aliphatic aldehydes. The mandarin flavouring consists of mandarin essential oil reinforced with limonene and other terpenes, alphaterpineol, linalool, linalyl acetate, citral and methyl methylanthranilayte.
The adjuvant of the extract is maltodextrin.
