MCT vegetable oil (medium chain triglycerides), elemental iron.
Indications
It is intended for newborns (including those born prematurely and with low birth weight), infants and children.
Action
Elemental iron, which is the main ingredient of the Innofer baby® product:
1. Features a very high iron content exceeding 98%
2. It has a very high bioavailability of 69%
3. It has a low molar mass, which allows the use of minimal and effective doses
4. It is 30-150 times safer compared to soluble iron salts
5. It is better tolerated than iron salts (does not cause abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation)
6. It is transformed into an ionized form in the gastrointestinal tract under the influence of gastric juice, without causing tooth discoloration or a metallic taste in the mouth.
7. It is characterized by a particle size (7-10 µm) ensuring a precise release profile, which, combined with the optimal absorption time (approx. 45 minutes), minimizes the risk of harmful excess ions, which constitute a breeding ground for pathogenic microorganisms.
Dosage
Before consumption, in order to obtain a homogeneous suspension, the product should be mixed thoroughly.
To do this, shake the bottle vigorously for no less than 30 seconds. After proper mixing, the suspension turns dark.
The color saturation of the suspension may vary depending on the product batch (from light gray to graphite or black).
Suspension stability tests showed that after the recommended mixing time, the suspension is homogeneous (ready for administration) for at least 3 minutes. If the appropriate dose is not taken within 3 minutes of mixing, the product should be thoroughly mixed again.
It is recommended to shake the bottle vigorously before each dose, even if administration takes place within 3 minutes of obtaining a homogeneous suspension.
The measured dose should be administered directly into the mouth immediately after preparation.
In the case of infants fed exclusively with milk, it is recommended to administer the product approximately 15 minutes before or 2 hours after giving milk.
After administering the measured dose, for hygiene reasons, the syringe should be washed with lukewarm running water without detergent.”
