Oxomemazine Viatris syrup is an antihistamine -based cough medicine used in adults and children over 2 years old to treat and calm dry coughs and irritating coughs. This syrup is especially indicated when these coughs occur in the evening or at night.
Dosage of Oxomemazine Viatris cough syrup
This dry cough syrup is intended for oral use and for adults and children over 2 years old. Administration is done using the measuring cup provided.
The dosage for adults and children over 40 kg (i.e. 12 years old) is 10 ml per dose, 4 times a day.
But for children, the dosage depends on their weight. Thus for children from 13 to 20 kg (i.e. 2 to 6 years old), the dosage is 5 ml per dose, 2 to 3 times a day , 10 ml per dose, 2 to 3 times a day for children from 20 to 30 kg (i.e. 6 to 10 years old) and 10 ml per dose, 3 to 4 times a day for children from 30 to 40 kg (i.e. 10 to 12 years old).
Oxomemazine doses should be spaced at least 4 hours apart and should be administered at the end of the day due to the sedative effect of oxomemazine.
The duration of treatment is as short as possible and should be limited to the time of day when the dry cough occurs.
