Prenatal dha is a preparation especially recommended for pregnant women and during breastfeeding. It contains a high portion of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an ingredient particularly important for the proper development of a child. Supplementing DHA from the beginning of pregnancy has a positive effect on the saturation of the mother’s tissues, and its active transport to the fetus takes place at the turn of the second and third trimester. DHA should be supplied in a ready-made form, because the human body has a limited ability to synthesize this omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid. The main source of DHA is oily sea fish, which, as research shows, is consumed in too little amount by women in Poland.
