Product information
The active substances of the drug are: magnesium citrate ( Magnesii citras ) and vitamin B6, i.e. pyridoxine hydrochloride ( Pyridoxini hydrochloridum ).
1 film-coated tablet contains 100 mg of magnesium ions in the form of magnesium citrate and 10.10 mg of vitamin B6.
Excipients: tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone (type A), croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate; tablet coating : polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), glycerol monocaprylocaproate (type 1), sodium laurilsulfate.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Magnefar B6 Forte is administered orally with a meal.
- If the symptoms persist despite the use of the drug for one month to supplement magnesium deficiency, the drug should be discontinued.
Action
Magnefar B6 Forte replenishes magnesium in the body. The drug contains magnesium ions necessary for many biochemical processes – magnesium cations are necessary for the activation of a number of enzymes. Magnesium also influences, among others, contractions of the heart muscle and the state of neuromuscular excitability.
The second active ingredient of Magnefar B6 Forte , i.e. vitamin B6, is responsible for the absorption of magnesium citrate.
Indications
Magnefar B6 Forte is used in the treatment and prevention of magnesium deficiency, which may be manifested by:
- nervousness, irritability, mood swings, anxiety, temporary fatigue, lethargy, slight sleep disturbance,
- anxiety
- muscle spasms, tingling, trembling of the eyelids.
Contraindications
Do not use Magnefar B6 Forte:
- if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the ingredients of the drug,
- in people with hypermagnesaemia (increased levels of magnesium in the blood),
- in patients with significant arterial hypotension, atrioventricular block, myasthenia ravis .
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Rare side effects (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000):
- stomach pain
- loose stools or diarrhea at the start of treatment
- reddening of the skin.
Very rare side effect ( less than 1 in 10,000 people):
- allergic reactions.
Warnings and Precautions
- In the case of simultaneous deficiency of magnesium and calcium, the first thing to do is to supplement the deficiency of magnesium.
- In case of severe magnesium deficiency and absorption disorders, treatment should be initiated under medical supervision.
- Long-term use of high doses of magnesium may contribute to the development of caries.
- Using more than those recommended may cause diarrhea.
- Particular care should be taken in patients with moderate renal insufficiency due to the risk of high levels of magnesium in the blood.
- As a result of long-term use of magnesium, blood potassium levels may increase, especially in patients with controlled potassium intake and poor kidney function.
- Long-term use of pyridoxine (several months or years) may cause disturbances in the sensory nerves. Symptoms include numbness and impaired sense of position, tingling in the hands and feet, and gradually progressive impaired coordination. In most cases, symptoms resolve when pyridoxine is discontinued.
- If side effects occur, you should temporarily stop taking the drug or reduce the dose until symptoms resolve.

Use of other medications
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, and about any medicines you plan to take, including those sold without a prescription.
Magnefar B6 Forte may interact with:
- some antibiotics (cisplatin, cyclosporin A, rifampicin, amphotericin B, penicillamine, isoniazid, cycloserine) also fluoroquinolones and tetracyclines,
- bisphosphonates,
- diuretics,
- cetuximab or erlotinib
- proton pump inhibitors (e.g. pantoprazole, omeprazole),
- foscarnet,
- pentamidine,
- hydralazine,
- phosphates, iron compounds or calcium salts,
- contraceptives,
- laxatives (especially those containing magnesium),
- levodopa,
- other drugs containing magnesium – risk of hypermagnesaemia.
Taking the drug with food and drink
Magnefar B6 Forte should be taken with a meal, washing it down with plenty (1 glass) of water.
