“Description
The drug is used in children over 3 years of age in the case of colds and flu and in pain of various origins of small and moderate intensity.
Composition
The active substance is paracetamol.
5 ml of oral suspension contains the active substance 120 mg of paracetamol.
The other ingredients are: polysorbate 80, sucrose, xanthan gum, sodium saccharin, sodium benzoate, citric acid, cochineal red (E 124), strawberry flavor improving substance (AR 0012/F), purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Medicine for oral use.
Children: The dose is determined according to the child’s body weight (on average 10-15 mg/kg body weight once) or according to the scheme below.
Children from 3 months of age up to 12 months of age: 2.5 to 5 ml (60 to 120 mg paracetamol)
aged 1 to 6 years: 5 to 10 ml (120 to 240 mg paracetamol)
aged 6 to 12 years: 10 to 20 ml (240 to 480 mg paracetamol)
Action
Paracetamol Aflofarm is a drug with analgesic and antipyretic properties.
Indications
Indications for the use of the drug are pain of various origins of low and moderate intensity: headaches, toothaches, teething pain, pain after dental and surgical procedures, muscle pain, osteoarticular pain, fever, in the course of colds and flu.
Contraindications
When not to take Paracetamol Aflofarm:
– if you are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
– if you have viral hepatitis.
– if you have severe liver and/or kidney failure.
– in case of alcoholism.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop using this medicine immediately and contact your doctor if:
– allergic reaction such as skin rash or itching, sometimes with swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face, making breathing difficult;
– angioedema (sudden swelling of the face, limbs or joints without itching or pain),
– difficulty breathing, wheezing (bronchial asthma attack);
– liver problems, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes).
Rare (affects 1 to 10 people in 10,000): itching, erythema (red-blue spots on the skin, sometimes with blisters), urticaria (light pink, itchy blisters on the skin), rash (itchy, red lumps on the skin), shortness of breath , sweating, lower blood pressure, up to the symptoms of shock (a clinical condition caused by hypoxia of vital organs), nausea, vomiting, an attack of bronchial asthma, liver function disorders, jaundice (yellow discoloration of the skin and the whites of the eyes).
Very rare (affecting less than 1 in 10,000 people), thrombocytopenia (reduction in the number of platelets – increased risk of bleeding and bruising), agranulocytosis, granulocytopenia (reduction in the number of granulocytes – a type of white
blood cells, causing greater susceptibility to infections), methemoglobinemia (blood loses the ability to carry oxygen to the body’s cells, which leads to the skin turning blue and easy to get tired), renal colic, renal papillary necrosis, acute renal failure..
Warnings and precautions
The medicine contains paracetamol. Due to the risk of overdose and toxic effects of paracetamol, Paracetamol Aflofarm should not be used simultaneously with other drugs containing paracetamol.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Paracetamol Aflofarm:
– if you have kidney and/or liver problems;
– if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, as there is a risk of being allergic to paracetamol;
– if you have a deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase or reductase dehydrogenase.
Before performing laboratory tests, the patient should tell the doctor that he or she is taking Paracetamol Aflofarm, as it may falsify the results of some tests (e.g. determining the concentration of glucose or uric acid in the blood).
You should not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store at temperatures below 25°C. Do not freeze. Store in the original packaging.”
