Dosage
Always take this medication exactly as directed in the package insert or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
The drug is for external use in the form of a solution.
For washing and rinsing, use a freshly prepared solution.
Do not drink the prepared solution!
Depending on the condition, 2 types of solution concentrations are usually prepared:
, 05% solution of purple potassium permanganate for washing purulent wounds, ulcers, hands, skin: 1 tablet per 200 ml of boiled water (1 glass).
0.025% pink solution of potassium permanganate for rinsing the mouth and throat: 1 tablet per 400 ml of boiled water (2 cups).
Action
Kalium hypermanganicum Galena contains potassium permanganate, which is a compound with oxidizing properties. Its aqueous solutions are unstable. They act locally as a disinfectant and astringent.
Indications
Depending on the concentration of the prepared solution, the drug can be used for:
disinfection of skin, wounds, ulcers, and hands (0.05%),
rinsing the mucous membranes of the throat and mouth (0.025%).
Contraindications
Do not use Kalium hypermanganicum Galena:
if you are allergic to potassium permanganate,
for washing eyes,
orally.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
Unknown:
skin irritation (with repeated use at the indicated concentrations),
discoloration of teeth and mucous membranes, unpleasant taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting (when rinsing the mouth),
swelling of the respiratory tract (when inhaling solution vapors).
Warnings and Precautions
Do not use solutions in high concentrations and for a long time – there is a possibility of irritation of the skin / mucous membranes.
If skin irritation occurs, stop using the drug.
Do not drink the prepared permanganate solution!
Potassium permanganate solution has limited stability.
Store in original packaging.
Keep the drug out of the reach of children.
