Composition
The active substance is dimetindene maleate.
One gram of gel contains 1 mg of dimethindene maleate.
The other ingredients of the drug are: benzalkonium chloride solution, sodium edetate, carbomer, sodium hydroxide 30%, propylene glycol, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is intended for use on the skin.
Usually, unless your doctor advises otherwise, the medicine should be applied 2 to 4 times a day, covering the affected and itchy skin surface with a thin layer of gel.
Action
When applied to the skin, the drug has a local anti-allergic effect, has a strong anti-itching effect, reduces swelling and soothes irritations. It has local anesthetic properties. It cools, which additionally soothes irritated skin.
Indications
The indication for the use of Fenistil is itching associated with skin diseases, hives, insect bites, sunburn, and superficial skin burns (first degree).
Contraindications
When not to use:
If you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
For second and third degree burns.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Frequency not known: dry skin, burning sensation of the skin, allergic skin reactions including rash and itching of the skin.
Warnings and precautions
If you use Fenistil on an extensive skin surface, avoid exposing the areas covered with it to sunlight.
Tell your doctor if itching is severe or if the lesions are extensive.
