With alginate as the main active ingredient, which is available in a dosage of 500 mg, the stomach gel creates a barrier that protects the stomach contents. The alginate extracted from brown algae reacts with potassium hydrogen carbonate and calcium when it comes into contact with stomach acid and swells up. This creates a gel-like layer that blocks the stomach acid from rising into the esophagus. This counteracts the symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux.
