Etopril therefore does not work chemically, but causes non-toxic killing of head lice and nits through a simple physical process. After the cyclomethicone has evaporated, the dimethicone is deposited both on the lice and nits and in their respiratory openings. This disrupts the breathing and water balance of the parasites to such an extent that they can no longer survive.
