Betadine alcoholic 5% in a 125 ml bottle is an antiseptic for healthy skin before minor surgery or before certain invasive procedures such as punctures and injections, it is also used for surgical antisepsis to prepare the surgical field.
The composition is povidone iodine 5 g/100 ml and 96% ethanol 72 ml per 100 ml.
The other components are: 85% glycerol, macrogol lauryl ether (9), purified water for an alcoholic strength of 69.2% (V/V)
How to use alcoholic Betadine 5%?
For antisepsis of healthy skin before surgery or before certain invasive procedures such as punctures and injections:
Using a compress, apply approximately 5 ml of the product to the surface of the skin for at least 10 seconds, and wait for it to dry for approximately 30 seconds.
For surgical antisepsis, this medication is used to prepare the surgical field:
First, start with a skin cleanser using a foaming solution for skin application based on povidone-iodine, which is rinsed with 10 ml of physiological serum, then dry with a sterile compress and disinfect the skin in two successive one-minute applications of 5% alcoholic Betadine separated by a one-minute spontaneous drying time in the air.
