“An imidazole derivative with a broad spectrum of antifungal activity. It inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which is necessary for the construction of the cell membrane of fungi, which leads to disturbances in its permeability and, as a consequence, to cell lysis. It has a fungistatic effect, and in high concentrations it is fungicidal against dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis) and yeast fungi (Candida albicans, Malassezia Furfur). It is absorbed through the skin to a minimal extent.
Dosage
The cream is applied to the affected areas of the skin 2-3 times a day. After the acute symptoms disappear, the medicine should be used for at least another month.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or any of the excipients of the drug. Safety during pregnancy: category B (US FDA). There are no controlled studies of the use of clotrimazole on the skin of pregnant women, but studies in which this drug was administered vaginally during the second and third trimester of pregnancy did not show any risk to the fetus. The drug should not be used during breastfeeding (there are no studies confirming the safety of its use during this period). Rarely, erythema, swelling, redness, eczema, itching, burning, urticaria, eczema, peeling of the epidermis occur). These symptoms very rarely lead to discontinuation of treatment.
Compound
