“Acodin contains dextromethorphan. The drug suppresses the cough reflex by direct action on the central nervous system. In therapeutic doses, it does not inhibit respiratory function and the functioning of the ciliary apparatus of the bronchi (the structure responsible for the transport of secreted mucus).
Indications
Acodin is used to temporarily suppress nonproductive cough (so-called dry cough not associated with secretions from the respiratory tract) of various origins. For example:
cough due to cold
pleural cough (eg, chest injury)
cough caused by inhaled irritants.”
Acodin is a cough suppressant medicine containing dextromethorphan hydrobromide (15 mg per tablet). It is intended for the relief of dry, non-productive cough associated with colds, flu, or throat irritation. By acting directly on the cough center in the brain, Acodin helps reduce the urge to cough, providing comfort and allowing better rest and recovery.
