Anhydrous citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, povidone 25, dimethicone and calcium silicate mixture (70%:30%), sodium docusate and sodium benzoate mixture (85%:15%), sodium saccharin, lime flavor, lemon flavor.
One tablet contains 477 mg sodium.
Dosage
The recommended dose of Alka-Seltzer is:
Adults:
At one time you should take from 1 to 3 effervescent tablets (from 324 to 972 mg of acetylsalicylic acid). If necessary, a single dose can be repeated no more often than every 4–8 hours. Do not take more than 12 effervescent tablets (approximately 4000 mg acetylsalicylic acid) per day.
Youth over 12 years old:
The medicine can be used in adolescents over 12 years of age only on the recommendation of a doctor.
Take 1 effervescent tablet (324 mg of acetylsalicylic acid) once. If necessary, a single dose can be repeated up to 3 times a day, no more often than every 4–8 hours. Do not take more than 3 effervescent tablets (972 mg acetylsalicylic acid) per day.
The tablets should be dissolved in a glass of water and the effervescent liquid should be drunk. Take after meals.
The medicine should not be used for longer than 3-5 days without consulting a doctor.
Contraindications
When not to use Alka-Seltzer
if you are allergic to the active substance – acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or any other ingredient of the drug,
if you have a bleeding disorder,
if you suffer from an acute stomach or duodenal ulcer,
if you have severe heart failure, severe liver failure or severe kidney failure,
if you have ever had an attack of bronchial asthma caused by taking salicylates or substances with similar effects, especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
if the patient is also taking the drug methotrexate (used in particular for cancer) at doses of 15 mg per week or higher,
if you are in the last trimester of pregnancy,
in children under 12 years of age.”
