Acute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis. Sodium cromoglycate stabilizes the membranes of mast cells that have come into contact with the antigen, thus preventing degranulation and the release of many chemical mediators. These mediators include histamine and kinins. They mediate early type I allergic reactions. Prostaglandins and leukotrienes are involved in late type IV inflammatory reactions and are produced as a result of provoked stimulation. Sodium cromoglycate is also a calcium antagonist. The result of this is to stop the degranulation of mast cells and prevent the release of histamine.Allergocrom
Dosage
Unless your doctor advises otherwise, instill no more than 1 drop of the solution into the conjunctival sac 4 times a day in each eye.Allergocrom
For adults and children, the dosage is the same.”
