Talcid® chewable tablets are suitable for children aged 12 years and older; they are vegan and do not contain lactose or gluten.
Applications
These chewable tablets are antacids. These are agents that bind excess stomach acid. They are used for the symptomatic treatment of diseases that require binding of stomach acid:
Stomach and duodenal ulcers (gastric and duodenal ulcers)
Heartburn and stomach problems associated with acidity
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, adults and children over 12 years of age take 1-2 chewable tablets (equivalent to 500-1000 mg of hydrotalcite) several times a day between meals and, if necessary, before bedtime.
The daily dose should not exceed 12 chewable tablets, which corresponds to 6000 mg of hydrotalcite.
Other medications should usually be taken one to two hours before or after taking the chewable tablets.
Use in children and adolescents.
The drug should not be used to treat children under 12 years of age due to insufficient experience with use in this age group.
Duration of use:
The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity, as well as the course of the disease.
If symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks during treatment, you should consult a doctor.
Contraindications
The drug should not be taken
if you are allergic to hydrotalcite, menthol or any of the other ingredients of the drug;
if you suffer from severe kidney dysfunction.
If you have impaired kidney function, you are at increased risk of increased accumulation of magnesium and aluminum in the blood if you take high doses of this medicine for a long time. In the long term, increased accumulation of aluminum can lead to painful softening of the bones (osteomalacia) or pathological non-inflammatory changes in the brain (encephalopathy). Therefore, in case of impaired kidney function, the drug can only be used if the level of magnesium and aluminum in the blood serum is regularly checked by a doctor. The aluminum level should not exceed 40 μg/l.
