Cingal is a whitish, opaque, sterile, single-use solution of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) gel and triamcinolone hexacetonide (TH) — a corticosteroid — as an excipient. Cingal is a biocompatible and non-pyrogenic substance. There is no physical or chemical interaction between the cross-linked hyaluronic acid contained in Cingal and triamcinolone hexacetonide, because the micronized triamcinolone hexacetonide particles are suspended in the viscoelastic hyaluronic acid gel and remain in the product as a separate solid phase.
Application
Intra-articular injection administered into the synovial cavity of a human joint to relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis.
How to use
The required amount of the preparation is injected into the selected joint space using a sterile, disposable hypodermic needle of an appropriate size. The sterile needle must be attached to the syringe with the preparation. For injections into the knee joint, it is recommended to use an 18-21 gauge needle. Before injecting the preparation, the doctor must make sure that the needle has been properly inserted into the synovial space.
Ingredients:
Cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) 22 mg/ml, dibasic sodium phosphate 0.15%, monobasic sodium phosphate monohydrate 0.03%, triamcinolone hexacetonide (TH) 4.5 mg/ml, polysorbate 80 0.22%, sorbitol 5 ,thirty%.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substances or any excipients contained in the preparation, previously existing skin infections in the area of the planned injection site, confirmed infection of the joints to be treated, known systemic coagulation disorders, active tuberculosis, herpetic keratitis, acute psychoses, systemic mycoses and colonization by parasites (infection with strongyloidiasis).
Important tips
Store at temperatures between 2 and 25°C.
Protect against freezing.
Before using, wait until Cingal in the refrigerator reaches room temperature (approximately 20 to 45 minutes).
Precautions typical of all intra-articular injection procedures are recommended.
Injections of the preparation should be performed only by medical personnel trained in the accepted techniques of injecting agents into joint spaces.
If the pain increases during the injection, the procedure should be stopped and the needle removed.
For single use only; reusing the contents of the syringe may result in infection and increase the possibility of side effects.
This product contains a corticosteroid and should therefore be used with caution.
Immediately after injection, the load on joints subjected to excessive exercise should be reduced in particular to avoid overloading them.
