“Escapelle is an emergency contraceptive that can be used for 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex or if your regular contraceptive method fails. It does not prevent pregnancy in all cases and is more effective if used as soon as possible after unprotected sex. The product works by preventing the release of an egg from the ovary and the fertilization of any egg that may have already been released by sperm. Escapelle is not an “abortion pill.” This will not work if you are already pregnant.
Application:
Take the pill as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours but no later than 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex. Don’t delay taking your pill. The sooner you take the pill after unprotected sex, the more effective it will be.
If you vomit within three hours of taking the tablet, you need to take another tablet immediately.
Use Escapelle only in emergency situations and not as a regular method of contraception. If you use Escapelle more than once during your menstrual cycle, it is less reliable and more likely to disrupt your menstrual cycle (menstruation).
If you want to have sex after taking Escapelle and are not taking birth control pills, you must use a condom or pessary and spermicide until your next period.
During breastfeeding: The active ingredient of the drug is excreted in breast milk. It is therefore recommended that you take the tablet immediately after breastfeeding and do not breastfeed for at least 8 hours after taking levonorgestrel and express milk using a breast pump during this time. This way, you take the pill further away from your next breastfeeding and reduce the amount of medicine your baby can absorb into breast milk.
Compound:
The active substance is levonorgestrel. One tablet contains 1500 mcg of levonorgestrel. Corn starch, potato starch, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, talc, lactose monohydrate.
