Active ingredients:
Acyclovir 50 mg
Hydrocortisone 10 mg
Excipients:
Paraffin, thick, Vaseline, white, Isopropyl myristate, Sodium dodecyl sulfate 8 mg, Cetyl stearyl alcohol 67.5 mg, Poloxamer 188, Propylene glycol 200 mg, Citric acid monohydrate, Sodium hydroxide for pH adjustment, Hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment, Purified water
Application areas
The medicine contains two active ingredients: acyclovir and hydrocortisone. Acyclovir is a viral inhibitor that helps fight the virus that causes herpes. Hydrocortisone is a mild that reduces inflammation associated with herpes. The cream is used to treat the early signs and symptoms (such as tingling, itching, or redness) of cold sores on the lips and around the lips to reduce the risk of cold sores developing into blisters. It can be used by adults and adolescents (12 years and older).
If a cold sore does develop into a sore, the medicine will shorten the healing process by about half a day to a day compared to a cream without active ingredients.
Cold sores are caused by a virus called the herpes simplex virus. The virus causes blisters and ulcers, primarily on the lips, but sometimes on other areas of the face. Cold sores can develop when the body’s immune system is weakened, such as if you have a cold or other infection. Stress, strong sunlight, cold temperatures, or menstruation can also trigger cold sores.
If your symptoms persist for 5 days after stopping treatment, see a doctor.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, check with your doctor.
For external use only.
Do not use more than the recommended amount.
Adults and adolescents 12 years and older
Apply the cream 5 times a day for 5 days (i.e. about every 3 to 4 hours while awake). It is recommended to start treatment as soon as possible, preferably at the first sign or symptom (such as tingling, redness or itching).
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used
if you are allergic to acyclovir, valacyclovir, hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
for skin infections other than herpes.”
