Areas of application
The drug is a hypnotic (sedative / antihistamine).
It is used
for the symptomatic short-term treatment of periodic sleep disorders in adults.
Dosage
The recommended dose is 1 tablet (equivalent to 25 mg doxylamine succinate).
If you have severe sleep disorders, you can take a maximum dose of 2 tablets (equivalent to 50 mg doxylamine succinate).
Take the drug approximately ½ to 1 hour before bedtime.
A lower dose should be used in patients with impaired liver or kidney function, elderly or weakened patients who are more sensitive to the effects of doxylamine.
Other drugs are available in doses that cannot be achieved with this drug.
Duration of use
In case of acute sleep disorders, treatment should be limited to individual doses if possible.
The duration of use should be as short as possible. In general, the duration of treatment can vary from a few days to a week.
Treatment should be discontinued after 2 weeks of daily use at the latest.
Contraindications
You should not take this medicine
if you are allergic to doxylamine, other antihistamines or any other ingredients of this medicine
if you have an acute asthma attack,
if you have glaucoma (narrow-angle glaucoma),
if you have a tumor of the adrenal glands (pheochromocytoma),
if you have an enlarged prostate gland (prostatic hypertrophy) with the formation of residual urine,
if you have acute poisoning with alcohol, sleeping pills or painkillers or psychotropic drugs (neuroleptics, tranquilizers, antidepressants, lithium),
if you have epilepsy,
if you are simultaneously being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.”
