250 ml solution for infusion contains
Active substance moxifloxacin (in the form of moxifloxacin hydrochloride) 400 mg.
Excipients: sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, water for injection.
Indications for use:
acute sinusitis; • – exacerbation of chronic bronchitis;
community-acquired pneumonia;
complicated and uncomplicated infections of the skin and soft tissues;
complicated intra-abdominal infections, including polymicrobial infections (such as abscess formation);
uncomplicated inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs (including salpingitis and endometritis).
Mode of application
The drug is administered intravenously as an infusion (solution for infusion). The recommended dose is 400 mg 1 time per day. The duration of treatment is determined by the severity of the infection and the clinical effect. Duration of treatment
– for acute sinusitis – 10 days;
– for exacerbation of chronic bronchitis – 5 days;
– for community-acquired pneumonia, the total duration of stepwise therapy with the drug (iv administration followed by oral administration) is 7-14 days;
– for complicated infections of the skin and soft tissues (iv administration followed by oral administration) – 7-21 days;
– for complicated intra-abdominal infections, including polymicrobial infections (iv administration followed by oral administration) – 5-14 days;
– for uncomplicated inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs (including salpingitis and endometritis) – 14 days.
Elderly patients, patients with minor impairment of liver and kidney function (including creatinine clearance ≤ 30 ml/min/1.73 m2), as well as patients on continuous hemodialysis and long-term ambulatory peritoneal dialysis do not require dosage adjustment.
Rules for using the solution for infusion.
The drug is administered as an intravenous infusion over at least 60 minutes. The infusion solution can be administered directly or through a T-shaped catheter. Moxicum infusion solution prepared using the infusion solutions listed below remains stable for 24 hours at room temperature. These solutions can be considered as compatible with Moxicum: water for injection, 0.9% sodium chloride solution, 1M sodium chloride solution, 5% dextrose (glucose) solution, 10% dextrose (glucose) solution, 40% dextrose (glucose) solution, 20% xylitol solution, Ringer’s solution, lactated Ringer’s solution. If Moxicum infusion solution is used together with another drug, then each drug should be administered separately. The drug should not be frozen or refrigerated, since cooling may cause a precipitate to form, which dissolves at room temperature. Only a clear solution should be injected.
Side effects
Moxicum is generally well tolerated, with most side effects being mild or moderate. From the digestive system, often – abdominal pain, dyspepsia (including flatulence, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea), increased activity of “liver” transaminases; rarely – dry mouth, candidiasis of the oral mucosa, anorexia, stomatitis, glossitis, increased levels of gamma-glutamine transferase.
From the nervous system: often – dizziness, headache; rarely – asthenia, insomnia or drowsiness, nervousness, anxiety, tremor, paresthesia.
On the part of the senses, it is often a change in taste.
From the cardiovascular system: rarely – tachycardia, increased blood pressure, palpitations, chest pain, prolongation of the QT interval.
From the respiratory system: rarely – shortness of breath; extremely rarely – bronchial asthma.
From the musculoskeletal system rarely – arthralgia, myalgia.
From the genitourinary system: rarely – vaginal candidiasis, vaginitis.
Allergic reactions are rare – rash, itching.
Laboratory indicators are rare – leukopenia, increased prothrombin time, eosinophilia, thrombocytosis, increased amylase activity.
Other rare – candidiasis, general discomfort, sweating.
Contraindications:
hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; • – pregnancy;
lactation (breastfeeding);
children and adolescents up to 18 years of age.”
