- Indications:
Otinum is a drug indicated for occasional use in inflammation of the external auditory canal manifested by pain, itching, redness.
The drug is also recommended for softening earwax before rinsing the external auditory canal
Contraindications:
Do not use Otinum:
if the patient is allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance (choline salicylate), other salicylates (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid/aspirin) or to any of the other ingredients of this drug (listed in section 6);
if the patient has bleeding or discharge from the ear;
if the patient experiences severe ear pain along with hearing impairment;
if the patient has previously been diagnosed with damage to the eardrum (rupture or break in its continuity);
in people under 18 years of age.
- Action:
The active substance of Otinum in the form of ear drops is a derivative of salicylic acid – choline salicylate.
Choline salicylate has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties when applied topically. This reduces pain and inflammation in the course of inflammation of the external auditory canal.
The glycerol contained in the medicine softens earwax, making it easier to remove. When applied topically to the ear, the medicine does not have a systemic effect
