“The drug is used to relieve acute inflammation of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough. After consultation with a doctor, it is also used to relieve problems with chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract accompanied by cough. The drug is intended for adults, adolescents and children.
Pharmaceutical form
Light brown, slightly cloudy liquid with a sweet fruity taste and cherry odor.
Drug substance and its quantity
Active ingredient: Hederae helicis folii extractum siccum (dry extract of ivy leaves 5-7.5:1) – 700 mg in 100 ml of syrup.
The extracting agent is ethanol 30% (m/m).
Other ingredients: potassium sorbate, anhydrous citric acid, crystalline sorbitol 70%, xanthan gum, cherry flavor, purified water.
How to use
The syrup is dosed using the included measuring cup.
The syrup is used when dosing three times a day in the morning, at noon and in the evening, when dosing twice a day in the morning and evening.
Children under 1 year
Take 2.5 ml of syrup twice a day (equivalent to 35 mg of Hederae helicis folii extractum siccum – dry ivy leaf extract).
Children from 1 to 5 years old
Take 2.5 ml of syrup three times a day (which corresponds to 52.5 mg of Hederae helicis folii siccum extract).
Children aged 6-9 years
Take 5 ml of syrup three times a day (which corresponds to 105 mg of Hederae helicis folii siccum extract).
Adults, teenagers and children over 10 years old.
Take 5 ml of syrup three times a day (which corresponds to 105 mg of Hederae helicis folii siccum extract).
If necessary, adults (with severe problems or with greater body weight) can take 7.5 ml of syrup three times a day (which corresponds to 157.5 mg of Hederae helicis folii siccum extract).
The drug is intended for adolescents and children from birth.
Interactions associated with the simultaneous use of other drugs in combination with Prospan have not yet been described.
