Ingredients
The active substance of Recigar is cytisine. Each tablet contains 1.5 mg of cytisine. Other ingredients: tablet core: hypromellose, mannitol, corn starch, magnesium aluminum silicate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate; coating composition: AquaPolish P green Project [hypromellose (E464), microcrystalline cellulose (E460), talc (E553b), glycerol, titanium dioxide (E171), quinoline yellow lake (E104), indigo carmine lake (blue 2) (E132)] , menthol flavor powder (SC552873), aspartame (E951).
Dosage
One package of Recigar tablets (100 tablets) is enough for full therapy. Treatment duration is 25 days. The medicine should be taken orally with an appropriate amount of water according to the following schedule.
From day 1 to 3: 1 tablet every 2 hours (maximum dose 6 tablets).
From day 4 to 12: 1 tablet every 2.5 hours (maximum dose 5 tablets).
From day 13 to 16: 1 tablet every 3 hours (maximum dose 4 tablets).
From day 17 to 20: 1 tablet every 5 hours (maximum dose 3 tablets).
From day 21 to 25: 1-2 tablets a day (up to 2 tablets).
Contraindications
Recigar anti-smoking tablets should not be used: if you are allergic to cytisine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you have unstable angina, if you have recently had a heart attack, if you have clinically significant cardiac arrhythmias, if you have recently had a stroke brain, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Possible side effects are described in the Recigar leaflet.
Warnings and precautions
Before taking Recigar, talk to your doctor or pharmacist if: you have ischemic heart disease, heart failure, hypertension, pheochromocytoma, atherosclerosis and other peripheral vascular diseases, gastric and duodenal ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease , hyperthyroidism, diabetes, schizophrenia, kidney and liver failure if the patient is over 65 years of age. Recigar should only be taken by people with a serious intention to quit smoking. Taking the drug and continuing to smoke may lead to an increase in nicotine side effects.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during treatment with Recigar. Please seek advice from your doctor. Recigar is contraindicated for use during pregnancy.
Breast-feeding
Recigar is contraindicated for use during breastfeeding.
Interactions
Recigar quit smoking tablets should not be taken together with anti-tuberculosis drugs. In some cases, as a result of stopping smoking, with or without Recigar, it may be necessary to adjust the doses of other medicines. This is especially important if you are taking medicines containing theophylline (used for asthma), tacrine (used for Alzheimer’s disease), clozapine (used for schizophrenia) and ropinirole (used for Parkinson’s disease).
