Indications
Indications for performing the test – symptoms:
– sudden development of throat infection (even within a few hours)
– severe sore throat
– difficulty swallowing
– enlarged and painful lymph nodes
– fever above 38°C
– congested throat mucosa
– white coating on the tonsils
– no typical symptoms of viral infection (runny nose, cough)
– general weakness
– headaches
Unusual symptoms of angina in children (under 3 years of age):
– rhinitis
– visible change in behavior
– anorexia, crying, general irritability
– moderately elevated body temperature
Additionally, the test should be performed in the case of:
– recurrence of throat disease/infection within the last 3 months
– throat infections in children aged 2 to 15 years

How to read the test result?
streptococcal test – negative result
The negative test result shown above means that Strep A (the bacteria responsible for strep throat) was not detected in the throat swab sample. This means that the throat infection was most likely caused by viruses
streptococcal test – positive result
A positive test result presented above means that Strep A (bacteria responsible for strep throat) was detected in the throat swab sample – consultation with a doctor is recommended!
