“Compound
The active ingredient is hydrocortisone acetate (Hydrocortisoni acetas).
1 g of cream contains 10 mg of hydrocortisone acetate.
Excipients: cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, macrogol cetostearyl ether, liquid paraffin, sorbitan stearate, white petrolatum, purified water.
Dosage
The medicine is intended for topical use on the skin.
Apply the cream in a thin layer to the affected skin 1-2 times a day.
Maxicortan should be administered according to the FTU (fingertip unit) size. 1 FTU determines the amount of cream squeezed out of the tube along a line from the tip to the bend of the first joint of the index finger of an adult (approximately 2.5 cm), which corresponds to 0.5 g of cream. Smaller areas will require a correspondingly smaller amount of cream. One FTU of the drug is designed to cover the entire surface of the hands of two adults.
Do not use on large areas of skin without doctor’s advice.
Do not use for more than 7 days without doctor’s advice.
If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 7 days of taking the medicine, consult your doctor.
Action
Hydrocortisone contained in Maxicortan cream, when applied topically to the skin, has anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties and constricts blood vessels. The drug easily penetrates the stratum corneum of the skin.
Indications
Maxicortan is used for local treatment:
atopic dermatitis;
allergic contact dermatitis, urticaria;
reactions after an insect bite or sting (such as itching and irritation).
Contraindications
if you are allergic to hydrocortisone acetate or any other ingredient of the drug;
if you have a bacterial, viral or fungal infection;
if you have acne vulgaris or rosacea;
if you have skin atrophy (wasting);
if you have skin cancer or a precancerous skin condition;
if you have inflammation of the skin around your mouth;
if you have tuberculous skin lesions;
if you have open wounds and damaged skin;
on the skin of the face.”
