“The active ingredient is iodized povidone (Polyvidonum iodinatum).
1 ml of solution contains 100 mg of iodized povidone.
Excipients: glycerin, nonoxynol 9, anhydrous citric acid, anhydrous disodium phosphate, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
Dosage

Betadine (100 mg/ml) is used:
in undiluted form: skin disinfection before injection, blood sampling, puncture biopsy, transfusion or infusion,
in the form of a 10% aqueous solution of the drug (1:10 dilution): aseptic dressing of wounds, disinfection of mucous membranes, treatment of bacterial and fungal infections,
in the form of a 1% aqueous solution of the drug (dilution 1: 100): bathing the patient before surgery.
A diluted solution should be prepared immediately before use.
Prolonged exposure to the product may cause irritation or, rarely, serious skin reactions.
Chemical burns to the skin can occur due to the accumulation of fluid.
Action
The drug has a strong bactericidal, fungicidal, selectively virucidal and antiprotozoal effect.
Indications
Betadine solution is used for:
Skin disinfection before injection, blood sampling, puncture biopsy, transfusion.
Before surgery, disinfect the skin and mucous membranes.
Aseptic wound care.
Treat bacterial and fungal infections.
Complete and partial disinfection of the patient before surgery (antiseptic bath).
Contraindications
Do not take Betadine:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.
Hyperthyroidism and other overt thyroid diseases.
Grass dermatitis (Dühring’s disease).
Kidney failure.
Before and after radioactive iodine treatment or radioiodine testing.”
