Areas of application
Therapeutic acidosis
The drug is a remedy for the treatment of metabolic acidosis of the blood (metabolic acidosis) and for maintenance treatment against relapse of metabolic acidosis of the blood in case of chronic renal failure (chronic renal failure).
Note:
Patients with a blood pH below 7.2 require correction of acidosis by infusion.
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
The dosage always depends on the severity of the metabolic acidosis in the blood (metabolic acidosis). As a rule, the dosage is 4-6 soft intestinal capsules per day, which corresponds to 3.4-5 g sodium hydrogen carbonate per day (= 40-65 mg sodium hydrogen carbonate per kg body weight per day).
Duration of use
As long as the existing metabolic acidification of the blood (metabolic acidosis) requires the use of the drug as prescribed by the doctor.
It should not be taken uncontrolled for a long period of time, since there is a risk of increased sodium levels in the blood (hypernatremia) or hypoacidification of the blood (alkalosis). Do not take the drug for more than 7-14 days without consulting a doctor.
Contraindications
The drug should not be taken if you
are hypersensitive (allergic) to sodium bicarbonate. or any of the other ingredients of the drug.
Excess base in the blood (alkalosis).
Low serum potassium (hypokalemia) and elevated serum sodium (hypernatremia) or a low-sodium diet.”
