“Otrivin for children in the form of a nasal spray with xylometazoline hydrochloride is a product intended for use in children aged 2–11 years. The effect of Otrivin for children appears just 2 minutes after its use and may last up to 12 hours.
The indication for the use of the drug is excessive nasal congestion, which accompanies colds, sinusitis, hay fever or allergic rhinitis. Otrivin for children works by facilitating the outflow of secretions from the paranasal sinuses and by reducing mucosal congestion. The drug can be used as an adjunct in cases of otitis media, and also facilitates nasal examination. Otrivin for children works by constricting blood vessels and reducing congestion and swelling of the nasal mucosa. The function of Otrivin for children is to facilitate nasal breathing and to prevent the nasal mucosa from drying out and irritating it.
The package contains 10 ml of Otrivin nasal spray for children. 1 ml of the product contains 0.5 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride and auxiliary ingredients. Before using the medicine in a child, read the leaflet included in the package and – unless the doctor advises otherwise – follow the recommendations contained therein. The recommended dosage of Otrivin for children depends on the child’s age. Children aged 2-5 years should be administered 1 dose of the spray into each nostril 1-2 times a day (preferably every 8-10 hours), and children aged 6 to 11 years should be administered 1-2 doses into each nostril. at a frequency of 2-3 times a day.
