“Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to other components of the drug.
Dosage
The dosage should be adapted to each case depending on the severity of symptoms due to lactose intolerance and the amount of lactose consumed. The usual dosage is as follows: Adults and children over three years of age: 1 chewable tablet for every 5 g of lactose ingested (the corresponding amount is contained in approximately 100 ml of milk). If symptoms persist, the dosage may be increased. Do not exceed 6 tablets as a single dose or 12 tablets as a daily dose. Chew the tablets or swallow them whole right away before eating or drinking foods containing lactose.
Warnings
If, despite treatment with LACDIGEST, bowel symptoms persist or other symptoms not related to lactose intolerance develop, treatment should be discontinued and an investigation initiated to verify the exact nature of the etiology of the bowel symptoms. Next, you can begin testing for lactose intolerance (using, for example, diet and deprivation reintroduction, a hydrogen breath test, or others). The drug is not contraindicated for people suffering from celiac disease.”
