“Composition
The active ingredient is allantoin (Allantoinum).
1 g of ointment contains 20 mg of allantoin.
Excipients: lanolin, liquid paraffin, white petrolatum, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, propylene glycol, purified water.
Dosage
Alantan ointment is intended for topical application to the skin.
Alantan should be carefully applied to the affected areas 2-3 times a day, unless your doctor has advised you otherwise.
A small amount of ointment can be applied to a sterile compress and applied to the cleaned wound. The dressing should be changed once or twice a day.
Action
Allantoin contained in Alantan affects the skin through:
keratolytic (exfoliating) effect,
stimulation of new tissue growth,
protective effect of the skin,
improved skin hydration.
When used regularly for hyperkeratosis of the skin, it can prevent excessive keratin deposition.
Indications
Alantan ointment is used in the case of:
treatment of difficult-to-heal wounds, burns (including sunburn),
treatment of chronic skin inflammation with excessive peeling and keratosis (atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and other skin diseases),
treatment of shallow ulcers, skin defects and mucous membranes.
Contraindications
When should you not use Alantan ointment?
if you are allergic to allantoin or any other ingredient of this medicine,
for the eyes,
in acute inflammation of the skin with exudate.
