“Composition
The active substance of the drug is carbocysteine.
1 ml of syrup contains 50 mg of carbocisteine.
The other ingredients are: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), caramel (E 150d), sucrose, gooseberry flavor “”Aroma grosella 63 2334″” [propylene glycol, ethyl formate, isopentyl acetate, 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)butan-2-one, 3 -methylbutan-1-ol, carbolic acid (Barosma betulina) extract, acetic acid, 4-(2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-ene-1-yl)-but-3-ene-2-one], sodium hydroxide and purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Use a measuring cup to measure the amount of medicine appropriate for the patient.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 15 ml of syrup three times a day. After the symptoms improve, the dose should be reduced to 10 ml of syrup three times a day.
Children aged 6 to 12 years: 5 ml of syrup three times a day.
Action
Carbocysteine reduces the viscosity of mucus, making it easier to remove from the respiratory tract when coughing.
Indications
Mucopect Kids is used for the symptomatic treatment of respiratory diseases involving excessive production of thick and viscous secretions.
Contraindications
When not to take Mucopect Kids:
If you are allergic to carbocisteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you have stomach and/or duodenal ulcers.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Rare side effects (more than 1 in 10,000 people but less than 1 in 1,000 people): nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Very rare side effects (less than 1 in 10,000 people): gastrointestinal bleeding, stomach disorders, abdominal pain, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, hives).
Frequency unknown: headaches, isolated cases of bullous dermatitis such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, in hypersensitive patients inflammation of the oral and nasal mucosa may occur.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Mucoopect Kids if:
the patient has had peptic ulcer disease in the past,
the patient has acute respiratory failure,
the patient is weakened,
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not store at temperatures above 25oC.
Taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Carbocysteine should not be used simultaneously with antitussives and drugs that reduce secretions.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
For pregnant or breastfeeding women, consult your doctor before using the medicine.
The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
The drug is not recommended for use during breastfeeding.
It is not known whether carmocysteine passes into breast milk.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Mucopect Kids is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
Driving vehicles and machines
Carbocysteine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
