“Compound:
The active ingredient of the drug is choline salicylate.
1 ml of solution contains 440 mg of choline salicylate.
Excipients: glycerin, ethanol 96%, purified water.
When applied topically, choline salicylate has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties and has a weak bactericidal effect against some microorganisms. Reduces pain and inflammation caused by inflammation of the external auditory canal (so-called otitis media).
The glycerin contained in the preparation moisturizes the external auditory canal, dissolves and softens the remains of earwax, facilitating their removal. Axotonil does not contain preservatives.
After local administration to the ear, the drug does not have a systemic effect.
Indications:
Axotonil is indicated for use in adults:
– with inflammation of the external auditory canal, manifested by pain, itching, redness,
– to soften hardened earwax (ear plug) before washing the external auditory canal.
Dosage:
Always use this medication exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Axotonil is applied topically into the external auditory canal.
Recommended dose:
Adults:
– For short-term local treatment of symptomatic otitis externa: usually 1 dose into the external auditory canal every 6–8 hours for a maximum of 3 days.
– To soften hardened earwax before rinsing the external auditory canal: usually 1 dose into the external auditory canal every 12 hours for 4 days.
Contraindications:
When should you not use Axotonil?
– if you are allergic to the active substance choline salicylate, other salicylates (eg acetylsalicylic acid/aspirin) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
– if you have bleeding or discharge from the ear;
– if you experience severe ear pain and hearing loss;
– if you have previously been diagnosed with damage to your eardrum (rupture or rupture);
– for persons under 18 years of age.
Damage (perforation) of the eardrum may be indicated by: sharp pain in the ear (gradually decreasing), tinnitus (which may indicate damage to the deeper structures of the ear), hearing loss, dizziness and/or discharge from the ear. The causes of perforation can be: infections, injuries
(for example, after improperly cleaning the ear with cotton swabs) and causes resulting from medical procedures (for example, improperly rinsing the ear due to earwax).”
