100 ml of syrup contains
Active substances: 29.4 g of calcium glubionate (Calcii glubionas) and 6.4 g of calcium lactobionate (Calcii lactobionas).
Excipients: sucrose, citric acid monohydrate, liquid banana flavor and aroma improving substance, sodium benzoate, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Orally
- Children from 2 to 11 years of age – 2.5 ml to 5 ml twice daily
- Children from 12 to 17 years of age – 5 ml to 10 ml two to three times a day
- Adults – 15 ml two to three times a day
Action
Calcium is the basic mineral component that contributes to the maintenance of the body’s electrolyte balance and the proper functioning of many regulatory mechanisms.
Indications
Calcium Polfarmex is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of the consequences of calcium deficiency in the body.
Contraindications
When not to use Calcium Polfarmex
- In case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients
- If you have hypercalcemia
- If you have hypercalciuria
- In severe renal failure
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- High doses may cause gastrointestinal disturbances (constipation).
- Long-term use may cause hypercalcemia or hypercakiuria.
Warnings and Precautions
- The drug contains sucrose. If you have been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking the drug.
Store at room temperature.
Protect from light and moisture.
Store out of the reach of small children.
After first opening the package, the syrup should be used within 6 months.
Use of other medications
Tell your doctor about all the drugs you are taking, or have recently taken, and about the drugs you plan to use
- Increased effect of sulfonamides, digitalis glycosides, malabsorption of tetracyclines and fluorine compounds.
- Thiazide diuretics reduce the excretion of calcium.
- Vitamin D increases the absorption of calcium.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Do not use in children under 2 years of age.
