Description
Magnefar B6 Bio is a drug used in the prophylaxis and in the case of magnesium deficiencies, which may manifest itself in, among others: muscle tremors, weariness or slight sleep disturbances. Magnefar B6 Bio is a combination of a well-absorbed, organic magnesium salt in the form of citrate and vitamin B6, which facilitates its absorption. The medicinal product is in the form of film-coated tablets with a score line, which makes the tablet easier to crush if there are problems with swallowing. The drug can be used in children over 6 years of age and in adults.
Composition
The active substances of the drug are: magnesium citrate ( Magnesii citras ) and vitamin B6, i.e. pyridoxine hydrochloride ( Pyridoxini hydrochloridum ).
1 film-coated tablet contains 60 mg of magnesium ions in the form of magnesium citrate and 6.06 mg of vitamin B6.
Excipients: tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone (type A), croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate; tablet coating : polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), glycerol monocaprylocaproate (type 1), sodium laurilsulfate.
Dosage

- Magnefar B6 Bio is administered orally with a meal.
- If the symptoms persist despite the use of the drug for one month to supplement magnesium deficiency, the drug should be discontinued.
Action
Magnefar B6 Bio replenishes magnesium deficiencies in the body. The drug contains magnesium ions necessary for many biochemical processes – magnesium cations are necessary for the activation of a number of enzymes. Magnesium also influences, among others, contractions of the heart muscle and the state of neuromuscular excitability.
The second active ingredient of Magnefar B6 Bio , i.e. vitamin B6, is responsible for the absorption of magnesium citrate.
Indications
Magnefar B6 Bio is used in the treatment and prevention of magnesium deficiency, which may be manifested by:
- nervousness, irritability, mood swings, anxiety, temporary fatigue, lethargy, slight sleep disturbance,
- anxiety
- muscle spasms, tingling, trembling of the eyelids.
Contraindications
Do not use Magnefar B6 Bio:
- if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the ingredients of the drug,
- in people with hypermagnesaemia (increased levels of magnesium in the blood),
- in patients with significant arterial hypotension, atrioventricular block, myasthenia ravis .
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Rare side effects (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000):
- stomach pain
- loose stools or diarrhea at the start of treatment
- reddening of the skin.
Very rare side effect ( less than 1 in 10,000 people):
allergic reactions.
Warnings and Precautions
- In the case of simultaneous deficiency of magnesium and calcium, the first thing to do is to supplement the deficiency of magnesium.
- In case of severe magnesium deficiency and absorption disorders, treatment should be initiated under medical supervision.
- Long-term use of high doses of magnesium may contribute to the development of caries.
- Using more than those recommended may cause diarrhea.
- Particular care should be taken in patients with moderate renal insufficiency due to the risk of high levels of magnesium in the blood.
- As a result of long-term use of magnesium, blood potassium levels may increase, especially in patients with controlled potassium intake and poor kidney function.
- Long-term use of pyridoxine (several months or years) may cause disturbances in the sensory nerves. Symptoms include numbness and impaired sense of position, tingling in the hands and feet, and gradually progressive impaired coordination. In most cases, symptoms resolve when pyridoxine is discontinued.
- If side effects occur, you should temporarily stop taking the drug or reduce the dose until symptoms resolve.
