“Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. The drug should be avoided in patients with broncorrea and mucociliare dysfunction (Kartagener’s syndrome, ciliary dyskinesia). Pregnancy and lactation. Do not give to children under 2 years of age.
Dosage
The package includes a glass with notches corresponding to 3, 5 and 10 ml. In order to open the package, you must press the lid firmly and at the same time turn it counterclockwise. Adults: 10 ml of syrup up to 3 times a day with an interval of at least 6 hours. Children: 10-20 kg 3 ml 3 times a day; 20-30 kg-5 ml 3 times a day. Treatment should be continued until the cough disappears. However, if cough is still present after 2 weeks of therapy, it is recommended to stop treatment and seek medical advice. In fact, cough is a symptom and or study and treat cause-and-effect pathologies. Pediatric Population: Do not use in children under 2 years of age.
Warnings and Precautions
The observation that the pharmacokinetic profiles of levodropropizina are not markedly altered in the elderly suggests that dose adjustments or changes in dosage intervals may not be necessary in the elderly. In any case, in light of evidence that sensitivity to various drugs is altered in old age, extreme caution should be used when levodropropizina is prescribed to elderly patients. Caution is recommended in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 35 ml/min). Caution is also recommended when taking sedatives concomitantly in particularly sensitive people (see 4.5). This medicine contains 4 g of sucrose per dose (10 ml): Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucosiogalattosio malabsorption, or sucrase isomaltase deficiency should not take this medicine. Please keep in mind that this product is suitable for use by people suffering from diabetes. The medicinal product contains methyl para-hydroxybenzoic acid and propyl para-hydroxybenzoic acid, pay attention to the possibility of causing urticaria. In general, para-hydroxybenzoic acid can cause delayed allergic reactions such as contact dermatitis, and rarely immediate reactions with the manifestation of urticaria and bronchospasm. All antitussive drugs are symptomatic and should be used only while awaiting a diagnosis of the cause and/or effect of therapy for the underlying pathology. In the absence of information on the effect of food intake on the absorption of the drug, it is recommended to take the drug between meals. Levotuss syrup does not contain gluten; therefore, it can be administered to patients suffering from celiac disease.”
