Neosynephrine Faure 5% eye drops are an ophthalmic medicine, containing phenylephrine, which has the role of increasing the size of the pupil (mydriasis).
This medicine is prescribed during a diagnosis, treatment of the eye or eye surgery . The
eye drops contain 5 g of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride per 100 ml of eye drops. The other ingredients are boric acid, borax, thiomersal (see section 2), disodium edetate, purified water.
Dosage of Neosynephrine 5% Faure eye drops
For information, 1 drop of Neosynephrine eye drops (approximately 40 µl) contains 2.0 mg of active substance (phenylephrine hydrochloride), for a 5 ml bottle which therefore contains approximately 125 drops of eye drops.
In adults, the dosage is one drop in the eye, to be renewed if necessary after 15-20 minutes. Do not exceed 3 drops per day.
In elderly subjects, special caution is necessary.
The dosage in adolescents (12 to 18 years) is one drop in the eye to be renewed if necessary after 15-20 minutes, the maximum dose should not exceed two drops.
The renewal of a drop must take into account the time to obtain mydriasis (15 to 20 minutes) and according to the doctor’s instructions.
