“Nulsora is an emergency contraceptive that can be used within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex or if a regular method of contraception fails.
When should you use emergency contraception?
No contraceptive methods were used during sexual intercourse.
Contraceptives were used incorrectly, for example. for example, when a condom breaks, slips, or is used incorrectly, when a condom is broken, torn, removed or moved prematurely, or when intermittent sexual intercourse is improperly stopped (for example, when semen is sprayed into the vagina or genitals).
Nulsora contains a synthetic hormone-like medicine called levonorgestrel.
It prevents conception in approximately 84% of expected pregnancies when used within 72 hours of unprotected sex. It does not prevent pregnancy in any way and is more effective if used as soon as possible after unprotected sex. It is better to take before 12 o’clock than to wait until the third day.
Levonorgestrel probably works as follows:
prevents the release of an egg from the ovary;
prevents sperm from fertilizing eggs that may be released.
Nulsora can only prevent pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. This will not work if you are already pregnant. If you have unprotected sex in the future after taking Nulsora (even if it happens during the same menstrual cycle), the pill will not work as a contraceptive and you may be at risk of getting pregnant again.
Nulsora should not be used before your first menstrual period (first menstrual period).
How often can I take Nulsora?
Emergency contraception should be used only occasionally and should not replace a regular method of contraception. If levonorgestrel is taken more than once during the menstrual cycle, it is less reliable and may also interfere with the regularity of the menstrual cycle.
Levonorgestrel does not work as a regular method of contraception. Your doctor, nurse, or Planned Parenthood clinic staff can give you information about long-term contraceptive methods that are much more effective at preventing pregnancy.
Application and dosage:
Take the tablet as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, but no later than 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sexual intercourse. Feel free to take the pill. The pill is more effective the sooner you take it before unprotected sex. It can only protect you from pregnancy if you take it within 72 hours of unprotected sex.
You can take Nulsora at any time during your menstrual cycle if you are no longer pregnant or think you are not pregnant. Do not chew the tablet, but swallow it whole with water.
If you are already taking a regular method of contraception, such as birth control pills, you can continue to take them at your usual times.
If you have additional unprotected sex after taking Nulsora (even during the same menstrual cycle), the contraceptive effect of the pill will not be used and you may be at risk of becoming pregnant again.
