The active substance is paracetamol ( Paracetamolum ).
1 tablet contains 500 mg of paracetamol.
Excipients : pregelatinized starch, crospovidone, povidone, stearic acid, magnesium stearate.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- The drug is administered orally. The tablet should be swallowed with a little liquid (preferably boiled water).
- The tablets can be divided into equal doses.
- Do not use the drug for more than 3 days without consulting your doctor.
Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age : 1 or 2 tablets (from 500 mg to 1000 mg of paracetamol) are used once, if necessary, after at least 4 hours, you can again take 1 or 2 tablets 2 to 4 times a day.
The maximum daily dose is 8 tablets (4,000 mg paracetamol).
Children from 6 to 12 years of age: from 1/2 to 1 tablet at longer time intervals.
Action
Paracetamol Biofarm contains the active substance paracetamol with analgesic and antipyretic properties. The drug is not anti-inflammatory. Paracetamol is less irritating to the stomach than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid).
Indications
Paracetamol Biofarm is used during pain of various origins and intensity, especially:
- headaches,
- migraines
- rheumatic pains,
- joint, muscle and bone pain,
- backaches,
- neuralgia,
- menstrual cramps,
The drug is also used to reduce fever accompanying, for example, a cold or flu.
Contraindications
Do not use Paracetamol Biofarm:
- in people who are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- if you have severe liver and kidney problems,
- in people suffering from alcoholism.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as swollen face, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, red itchy skin lesions, and difficulty breathing. These are signs of a hypersensitivity (severe allergic) reaction to the medicine.
Rare side effects (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000) :
- bad mood;
- hypotension (drop in blood pressure);
- increase in liver enzymes.
Very rare side effects ( less than 1 in 10,000 people) :
- hypersensitivity reactions – severe allergic reactions requiring treatment discontinuation (see above);
- blood disorders (decreased number of platelets or white blood cells).
Warnings and Precautions
The drug contains paracetamol, so it should not be used concomitantly with other medicinal products containing this substance due to the risk of overdose and serious side effects. The frequent use of paracetamol-containing drugs should be avoided.
Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of paracetamol as this can cause severe liver damage.
Talk to your doctor before using Paracetamol Biofarm :
- if you have kidney problems (mild to moderate);
- if you have liver problems (mild to moderate);
- in people with a deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (the enzyme responsible for the proper functioning of red blood cells);
- if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, because then there is a higher risk of allergy to paracetamol.
Storage:
- Do not store above 25 ° C.
- Keep the drug out of the sight and reach of children.
Use of other medications
Tell your doctor about all the drugs you are taking, or have recently taken, and about the drugs you plan to use.
Taking the drug with food and drink
Do not drink alcohol while taking Paracetamol Biofarm .
Taking this medicine with food may delay the time it takes to work.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Paracetamol Biofarm can be used during pregnancy if clinically needed. You should take the lowest recommended dose that relieves your pain and / or your fever for the shortest possible time and as rarely as possible. A doctor should be consulted if the pain and / or fever do not improve or if you need to take the medicine more often.
Influence on laboratory tests
Paracetamol Biofarm may interfere with the results of some laboratory tests, such as the determination of uric acid and blood glucose.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Paracetamol Biofarm should not be given to children under 6 years of age without consulting a doctor.
