“Recenum Junior is a drug used for emergency treatment of symptoms of acute diarrhea in children over 6 years of age. The drug should be taken with plenty of fluids and a supportive diet when these measures alone are not sufficient to control diarrhea and when the diarrhea cannot be treated causally.
Racecadotril can be used as an additional treatment when etiotropic treatment is possible.
Active ingredient: Racecadotrilum.
Composition Recenum Junior
The active ingredient is racecadotril. Each sachet contains 30 mg of racecadotril.
Other ingredients: sucrose, colloidal silicon dioxide anhydrous, povidone (K30).
How to dose Recenum Junior?
Always use Recenum Junior exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Recenum Junior is available in the form of granules intended to be swallowed.
The granules should be added to food or mixed with water in a glass, mixed well and given to the child immediately. When dissolved in water it forms a white suspension.
The recommended dose depends on the child’s body weight: 1.5 mg/kg per dose (equivalent to 1-2 sachets) 3 times a day at regular intervals.
For children weighing 13 to 27 kg: one sachet per dose. The dose should be taken 3 times a day, i.e. The daily dose is 3 sachets (1 sachet three times a day).
Children weighing 27 to 40 kg: two sachets per dose. The dose should be taken 3 times a day, i.e. The daily dose is 6 sachets (3 times a day, 2 sachets).
In children weighing less than 13 kg, the doctor may recommend the use of Recenum Baby 10 mg, granules for oral suspension, in a sachet.
Treatment should be continued until two normal bowel movements have passed and should not last more than 7 days. If you do not feel better or feel worse after 2 days, contact your doctor.
To replace fluid loss due to diarrhea, this medication should be taken with an appropriate amount of fluid and salts (electrolytes). The best way to replenish fluids and electrolytes is to drink so-called oral rehydration fluids (if in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist).
In some cases, intravenous rehydration may be required.
When should you not use Recenum Junior?
if your child is allergic to racecadotril or any other ingredient of Recenum Junior;
If your child has an intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before giving your child Recenum Junior.”
