“Composition
The active substance is racecadotril.
1 sachet contains 30 mg racecadotril.
The other ingredients are: sucrose, colloidal anhydrous silica, povidone (K30).
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose depends on the child’s body weight: 1.5 mg/kg per dose (corresponding to 1-2 sachets) 3 times a day at regular intervals.
For children weighing 13 to 27 kg: one sachet per dose. The dose should be taken 3 times a day, i.e. the daily dose is 3 sachets (1 sachet three times a day).
For children weighing 27 to 40 kg: two sachets per dose. The dose should be taken 3 times a day, i.e. the daily dose is 6 sachets (3 times a day, 2 sachets).
The granules should be added to food or mixed with water in a glass, mixed well and given to the child immediately. When dissolved in water, it forms a white suspension.
Indications
Recenum Junior is used for the emergency treatment of symptoms of acute diarrhea in children over 6 years of age.
When not to use Recenum Junior:
If your child is allergic to racecadotril or any of the other ingredients of Recenum Junior.
If your child has an intolerance to some sugars, consult a doctor before giving your child this medicine.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop giving your child Recenum Junior and contact your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives and difficulty breathing.
Uncommon side effects (affects less than 1 in 100 people): tonsillitis, rash and erythema (redness of the skin).
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): erythema multiforme (pink lesions on the skin of the limbs and inside the mouth), swelling of the tongue, swelling of the face.
Warnings and precautions

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store at temperatures below 25 oC.
Before taking Recenum Junior, talk to a doctor or pharmacist if: the child is less than 6 years old, there is blood or pus in the stool and the child has a fever, the child has chronic diarrhea or diarrhea caused by taking antibiotics.
Taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
In particular, tell your doctor if your child is taking any medicines: angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors used to lower blood pressure or help the heart function more easily.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
For pregnant or breastfeeding women, consult your doctor before using the medicine.
Recenum Junior should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Recenum Junior can be used in children over 6 years of age.
Driving vehicles and machines
Recenum Junior has little or no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
