Action
Prenatal DHA is a unique preparation that supplements the diet of pregnant and lactating women with omega-3 fatty acids, in particular DHA. Due to the very low consumption of fish by women in Poland, Prenatal DHAcontains as much as 300 mg of DHA, which is in line with the ISSFAL recommendations. Essential unsaturated fatty acids (EFAs) omega-3 are a very important part of the diet of pregnant and breastfeeding women. Due to their participation in the structure of the brain and the retina of the eye, they play a significant role in the development of the fetus and a small child. Particularly important is the share of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which constitutes about 30% of phospholipids in the central nervous system and the retina. The appropriate amount of DHA in the diet of women is conducive to the proper psychomotor and intellectual development and has a positive effect on visual acuity in a child.
Intensive brain development takes place during the fetal life (third trimester of pregnancy) and the first months of a child’s life, therefore, it is especially during this time that it is necessary to maintain an adequate level of DHA in the body of a pregnant and breastfeeding woman. Prenatal DHA contains 300 mg of DHA, the amount in accordance with the recommendations of the ISSFAL – International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids for pregnant women.
