“Vitamin B12 deficiency may manifest as:
Hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia (pernicious anemia, Biermer’s anemia, Addison’s anemia; these are disorders of red blood cell maturation).
Funicular disease of the spine (damage to the spinal cord)
1 ampoule of 1 ml contains:
Active substance
Hydroxocobalamin acetate 1500 mcg
Excipients: sodium chloride, water for injection.
Dosage
At the beginning of treatment, 1 ml (1 ampoule) of vitamin B12-Depo-Injectopas® 1500 mcg (corresponding to 1500 mcg of hydroxocobalamin acetate) is prescribed twice a week for the first few weeks after diagnosis.
If there are signs of impaired absorption of vitamin B12 in the intestine, 100 mcg of cyanocobalamin is prescribed once a month.”
