“Compound:
1 bottle contains the active substance – darzolamide hydrochloride 22.3 mg (equivalent to 20.0 mg darzolamide);
excipients mannitol 25.0 mg, hydroxyethylcellulose 0.8 mg, sodium citrate 3.3 mg, benzalkonium chloride 0.075 mg, water for injection up to 1 ml.
Definition: colorless or slightly yellowed, transparent liquid.
Usage:
increased internal pressure in the eye;
open angle glaucoma;
used for false exfoliation glaucoma.
Directions for use and dosage:
The drug is prescribed as monotherapy to adults, 1 drop 3 times a day. For local use with beta blockers in combination, 1 drop 2 times a day.
If darzolamide is prescribed to replace another ophthalmic drug for the treatment of glaucoma, the previous drug should be discontinued the day before starting treatment with darzolamide. When using several eye drops simultaneously, the interval between instillations should be at least 10 minutes.
Undesirable effects:
Pain from the organ of vision, injections, superficial punctate keratitis, conjunctivitis, inflammation and damage to the eye tract, lacrimation, itching, blurred vision; sometimes iridocyclitis; in rare cases, damage and redness of the eyes, blanching of the eye tract, pain, transient myopia, inflammation of the cornea, hypotension of the eyes, displacement of the cortex of the ocular vessels after filtration surgery.
Systemic allergic reactions including headaches, vomiting, bitter taste in the mouth, asthenia, fatigue, in rare cases – dizziness, paresthesia, nosebleeds, dry mouth, effects on the tongue, allergic dermatitis, urolithiasis, angioedema, ascemia, itching , diarrhea, bronchospasm, fungus.
Laboratory studies have not revealed clinically significant electrolyte disturbances with the use of dorzolamide hydrochloride.
Unacceptable cases:
hypersensitivity to -dorzolamide or other components of the drug;
severe renal failure (less than 30 ml per minute);
cannot be used with hyperchloric acid.”
