Indications
Infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by viruses: Herpes simplex type I or II (herpes simplex) and Herpes varicella-zoster (chickenpox, shingles).
Other infections of viral etiology (for example, subacute sclerosing encephalitis).
Supports people with reduced immunity and recurrent upper respiratory tract infections.
Active ingredient: Inosinum pranobexum.
Compound
1 ml of syrup contains:
inosine pranobex 100 mg
5 ml of syrup contains:
500 mg inosine pranobex
Excipients with known effects: sucrose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate.
Dosage
The dose is determined based on the patient’s body weight and depends on the severity of the disease. The daily dose should be divided into equal single doses taken several times a day. The duration of treatment is usually from 5 to 14 days. After the symptoms disappear, the medication should be continued for another 1-2 days.
Adults, including elderly (over 65 years):
The recommended daily dose is 50 mg/kg body weight per day (0.5 ml per 1 kg body weight per day), usually 3 g (i.e. 30 ml syrup per day), administered in 3 or 4 doses. The maximum dose is 4 g per day.
Note for all ages:
For severe infections (for example, subacute sclerosing encephalitis in the acute phase of the disease), the dose may be increased to 100 mg/kg body weight/day in divided doses administered every 4 hours.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
The drug should not be used in children under 1 year of age.
Contraindications
The medicine should not be used:
in patients with hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients;
in patients who are currently suffering from an attack of gout or elevated levels of uric acid in the blood.”
