“Compound
The active ingredient is meloxicam. One tablet contains 7.5 mg of meloxicam.
Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, gelatinized starch, corn starch, sodium citrate, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.
The medicine contains lactose.
Dosage
Usual dose: 1 tablet (7.5 mg) per day.
Elderly patients: 1 tablet (7.5 mg) per day.
Patients with impaired renal function: the dose should not exceed 7.5 mg per day.
Patients with liver disease: the dose should not exceed 7.5 mg per day.
The medicine should be taken with food, with water or other liquid.
If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 7 days, contact your doctor.
Action
The drug has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects.
It is used for osteoarticular and muscle pain associated with rheumatoid and degenerative joint diseases.
Indications
Short-term treatment of exacerbations of symptoms of rheumatoid diseases, such as:
rheumatoid arthritis,
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis,
ankylosing spondylitis.
Contraindications
When you should not use Opokan:
If you are allergic (hypersensitivity) to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of the medicine (listed in section 6).
If you are hypersensitive to another non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as acetylsalicylic acid.
If you have had attacks of shortness of breath or asthma, urticaria, nasal polyps or angioedema while taking other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (eg acetylsalicylic acid).
If you suffer from severe liver failure.
If you have severe kidney failure and are not receiving dialysis treatment.
If you have an active or recurrent stomach and/or duodenal ulcer (you have had at least two episodes of confirmed ulceration or bleeding).
If you have had a brain bleed or other bleeding, such as from the gastrointestinal tract.
If you have severe heart failure.”
