“The drug contains dextromethorphan, which provides an antitussive and inhibitory effect on the cough center near the central nervous system. Other drug substances include lactose and cellulose. Pregnant women should consult a doctor before taking medications. This is a coated tablet and is available without a prescription.
Dosage
Children and adolescents aged 6 to 16 years should take TussalAntitussicum tablets only on the recommendation of a doctor.
Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 tablet every 6-8 hours. The maximum daily dose is 60 mg of dextromethorphan (4 tablets).
Adults and children over 12 years of age: 2 tablets every 6-8 hours. The maximum daily dose is 120 mg of dextromethorphan (8 tablets).
Contraindications
Tussal antitussive should not be used:
if you are allergic to dextromethorphan hydrobromide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
if the patient suffers from bronchial asthma and inflammation of the lower respiratory tract,
if you have respiratory failure or are at risk of developing it,
if you suffer from severe liver failure,
if you are currently taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors or have taken these medicines in the last 14 days,
if you have a productive cough,
if a woman is breastfeeding,
if the child is under 6 years old.
Store at temperatures below 25°C.
Treatment with Tussal Antitussicum can lead to the following side effects:
Do not take the drug with MAOI inhibitors for 14 days after stopping their use. Use despite warning may cause high blood pressure, high fever, collapse, coma and nausea.
Taking Tussal Antitussicum with quinidine, amiodarone, fluoxetine can lead to an increase in the concentration of the drug in the blood and an increase in its side effects.
Use with other central nervous system depressants may enhance central nervous system effects.
Do not drink alcohol while taking medications.”
